Xiaomi 13 Pro
The Pro model features a 120Hz 6.73-inch 3200×1400 display, the same as the 12 Pro, but this time, it uses an LTPO OLED panel instead of AMOLED and boasts a higher peak brightness of 1,900 nits. For durability, the screen is equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and the phone itself is rated with IP68 dust and water protection. As previously mentioned, both flagship devices are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which is paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and can be configured with a whopping 512GB of next-generation UFS 4.0 storage. They also support 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3. The Xiaomi 13 Pro’s camera module gets the Leica treatment, carrying a triple-camera setup comprised of the 50MP 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens with an upgraded 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide camera. Up front, you get the same 32MP selfie camera. The battery gets a nominal upgrade from last year’s 4,600mAh to 4,820mAh. Other than that, it supports the same fast-charging capabilities including 120W wired and 50W wireless, as well as 10W reverse wireless charging.
Xiaomi 13
The vanilla variant of the series has many of the same upgrades as the Pro but in a smaller package, featuring a brighter and slightly-larger 120Hz 6.36-inch 2400×1080 OLED display and IP68 protection. However, the panel is not LTPO so it lacks granular control over the refresh rate. The base Xiaomi 13 also incorporates the Leica branding on its lenses with a 50MP main shooter, a proper 10MP telephoto with OIS and 3x zoom instead of its predecessor’s 5MP sensor, and a 12MP ultrawide. Similarly, it uses a 32MP front sensor. The battery capacity of the 13 is unchanged from last year’s at a moderate 4,500mAh. Likewise, the charging speeds have remained the same with 67W wired charging, 50W wireless, and 10W reverse charging. Both the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro will start shipping in China on 14 December with a starting price of CNY3999 (~RM2530) for the 13’s 8GB+128GB model and CNY4999(~RM3160) for the highest configuration. As for the 13 Pro, it has a base price tag of CNY4999 (~RM3,160) and tops out at CNY6299 (~RM3990) for the 12GB+512GB variant. For those of you wondering about the 13 series’ presence in the Malaysian market, Xiaomi has not yet made an official announcement. However, the lineup has reportedly received approval from SIRIM, which most likely means a local launch is not too far down the line. (Sources: Xiaomi [1][2])
