The choice of Time might be surprising for some but as it turns out, the company already existing partnership with U Mobile as the backhaul provider for its current 4G network. The telco has also confirmed in its reply to our query that Time’s role as backhaul provider is not limited to just 5G trails but also during for the eventual commercial rollout of U Mobile’s 5G network.
Speaking about 5G, U Mobile already looking to test out the new tech in several fields including education, healthcare, and gaming. The telco is currently working with its partners to finalize the location of its 5G live trials. But for time being, U Mobile didn’t provide any specific timeline for its 5G network deployment. Nevertheless, its suffice to say that it going to take some time since the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission has previously stated that commercial rollout of 5G network in Malaysia is expected to take place only in 2021 to 2022.
