The company did not directly mention what camera it plans to unveil. However, eagle-eyed observers such as those from website Sony Alpha Rumors, have noticed that the Japanese tech giant unintentionally left some clues regarding the new device’s identity in the launch page’s tags. The now-deleted keywords include mentions of “Sony A7 IV”, which suggests that the company is launching the long awaited successor to the Sony A7 III full-frame mirrorless camera that was released back in 2018.
— Sony | Alpha (@SonyAlpha) October 18, 2021 Sony Alpha Rumors added that also mentioned in the list of tags include keywords such as LCE-7M4, full frame camera, 4K, Eye AF, Animal Eye AF, 33MP, BIONZ XR, S-Cinetone, vari-angle, gimbal, 5GHz Wi-Fi, 15+ stops dynamic range, and much more. Needless to say, Sony may have pretty much leaked the upcoming Sony A7 IV’s key specifications just days before its official launch – provided that the now-deleted keywords are accurate, of course. Regardless, whether the company will be launching the A7 IV or an entirely different Alpha-branded product when the launch goes live. Speaking of which, the event itself is slated to premiere this Thursday on 21 October at 10pm local time. In another brand-related news, Sony is also set to launch a new Xperia device five days after the Alpha event. Similarly, it will be held as an online-only launch via the company’s official Xperia channel on YouTube, which is planned to go live on 26 October 2021.
