Sony’s financial report states that the company sold 2.8 million of the current generation console this quarter. Adding this on top of the 100 million sold up to the last quarter pushes it above the original.
That said, the numbers are not going to improve by a lot until the PS5 comes out. With its release officially slated for next year’s holiday season, the company expects sales of the PS4 to be less than originally forecast. All that said, it’s unlikely that the PlayStation 4 will be taking the crown of best-selling console of all time from the PlayStation 2.
