The cabin shield, also known as the “V-Shield”, covers the driver’s section of the vehicle and measures at 1m x 0.7m x 0.6m. ComfortDelGro claimed that the shield is made of “an unbreakable material”, therefore also doubling it as protection for the driver against “violent physical harm.” The taxi operator added that the cabin shields does not obstruct airflow in the rest of the taxi, and also features two window openings to allow cash transactions. Installation of the V-Shields to its fleet had recently begun, and will continue to roll-out in 50 taxis every week. ComfortDelGro said that more taxis are expected to have the cabin shield installed if the trial is successful. (Source: ComfortDelGro via CNA)
