Interestingly, SamMobile noted that the alleged new variant of the S20 would not adopt the Lite moniker, but will be called “Fan Edition” instead. This would not be the first Samsung device to have used this naming convention, as the company had also previously used it to market refurbished editions of the infamous Galaxy Note 7 series in 2018. According to the report, the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition (FE) will be available for the global market as well as the US, with the model number SM-G780 and SM-G781 respectively. The device will be released in three variants with and without 5G connectivity, while the US specific model will only be available with 5G enabled. Other than that, the S20 FE is said to run on Android 10 with One UI 2.5 and will feature 128GB of internal storage. Its full specifications are not known for now, although it is expected to be equipped with the same chipset as the original versions. Keep in mind that the global version of the S20 series featured Samsung’s own Exynos 990 SoC, while the US release came with the Snapdragon 865 chipset instead. As usual for every rumour and hearsays, we advise our readers to take news of this alleged Fan Edition of the Samsung Galaxy S20 with a grain of salt. We’ll definitely keep you posted if the Korean tech brand does make this new variant official in the near future. (Source: SamMobile)
