Like so many other major tech giants around the world, NVIDIA was forced to cancel its annual GTC event due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Flight tickets and hotel accommodations were cancelled and refunds were given. While the company decided that it would simply pre-record talks with key partners and developers that were either long-time patrons of the event or new companies using NVIDIA’s GPU technology for the first time.
While the event is typically used as a platform for Huang to announce his company’s latest technology and innovation, this year is special as several experts are predicting that NVIDIA may announce its alleged next-generation Ampere GPU architecture. The GPU architecture is expected to replace the current generation Turing-powered Quadro and GeForce RTX series graphics cards, as well as the possibility of more powerful and more efficient ray-tracing hardware. In any case, we’ll just have to wait until 14 May find out. (Source: NVIDIA)
