In the post, he says that “Internet Explorer is a compatibility solution.” This is because some businesses still use it for their web page and web apps. Rather than spending resources to make them compatible with the new-age browsers, they continue to use them because they were designed to be used with it. The problem with this is that Internet Explorer is not updated with the latest web standards. This will cause sites and web apps to be locked out of features that it could otherwise benefit from. And then there’s the issue of security – in addition to not having the latest security features, it also reportedly holds Windows 10 back, as evidenced by a previous security bug. Now all this will likely not be applicable to the general web surfer, who will likely already be using a different browser.
