The 800U is built on the same TSMC 7nm process as the previous chipset, with an integrated 5G modem which supports 5G+5G Dual Sim Dual Standby (DSDS), sub-6GHz 5G on SA and NSA networks, dual Voice over New Radio (VoNR), 5G two carrier aggregation (2CC 5G-CA), and MediaTek’s 5G UltraSave technology. The new MediaTek SoC comprises two ARM Cortex-A76 CPU cores clocked at up to 2.4GHz, and six ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores working up to 2.0GHz. The Dimensity 800U is equipped with the Mali-G57 MC3 GPU, an independent AI processing unit (APU), up to 2133Mhz LPDDR4X RAM support, and UFS 2.1-class storage support. It is compatible with displays at up to Full HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rates, and also features support for HDR10+ video as well as MediaTek’s own MiraVision PQ engine. In terms of mobile photography, the chipset’s ISP is capable of supporting quad camera configurations, image sensors of up to 64MP, and 4K recordings at 30p. Other than that, the 800U also features voice on wakeup (VoW) support, multiple trigger words and voice assistant services, and dual-mic noise reduction technology. So far no upcoming smartphones from known brands have been confirmed to include the new MediaTek Dimensity 800U chipset.
