Through the report which is titled “The 5G Opportunity”, Opensignal has used the stats that it has gathered from 1 January till 31 December 2018 in 77 countries to show the inconsistencies between average 4G download speed that customers able to achieve during low and peak time of the day. The company believes that 5G technology is able to solve these inconsistencies in addition to providing higher speed. For Malaysia, the stats from Opensignal showed that the best 4G speed that networks in Malaysia can achieve which is during the quietest hour of the day is around 21Mbps. However, the company didn’t reveal when exactly is the quietest hour in Malaysia although it usually takes place at 3 am according to the global average in the report. On another hand, Opensignal did specify the exact slowest time of the day for 4G network in Malaysia which is at 10 pm. During this time, the 4G download speed in Malaysia would be around 9Mbps.
