For those who are not aware of GoEV, the service was launched last December and it is currently the only app-based electric car sharing service in the country. Featuring the 2019 Nissan Leaf, it is available in several locations within Klang Valley including Avenue K Shopping Mall, Mid Valley Megamall, KL Sentral, Nissan Glenmarie, and MyTown Shopping Centre as well as GoCar’s office in Petaling Jaya and Segambut. According to Nissan Malaysia, the Leaf is equipped with a 110kW motor that delivers 150PS of maximum power alongside 320Nm of maximum torque and has a top speed of 155km/h. Through its 40kWh battery, the EV has a maximum travel range of 311km according to NEDC standards. GoCar has included a ChargEV card inside all GoEV’s Leaf as well as a Type 2 to Type 1 charging cable. This is so that GoEV users are able to charge the Leaf for free at any ChargEV AC chargers throughout the country. That being said, you may not want to spend time charging the car when you are renting it as the Leaf takes around seven hours to be fully charged since it is only able to support up to 6.5kW of power when plugged into an AC charger. However, the charging time can be significantly reduced to around one hour via a CHAdeMO-supported 50kW DC fast charger. Meanwhile, the current rental fee is RM24.90 per hour which is rather hefty when compared to most ICE-based car-sharing vehicles. However, GoEV still can be considered a relatively affordable way to experience electric cars when you consider that brand-new EVs in Malaysia still cost upwards of RM150k. To take advantage of the free three hours rider for GoEV, just input the “GOEVLAH” promo code during reservation which can be done through GoCar’s Android or iOS app. Valid until the end of September 2022, GoCar also said that it is waiving the usual RM20 membership throughout the GoCarLah promotion period but as always, we do recommend you to check out and fully understand the promo’s terms and conditions before you proceed further.
