With the familiar design, the DJI Osmo Action 3 is fitted with not just one, but two full-colour LCD touchscreens with hydrophobic coating. To be more specific, the front display measures at 1.4-inches while the one situated on the back comes in at 2.25-inches. The camera itself is rugged and is able to withstand temperatures of -20 to 45 degrees Celsius. It is also waterproof, with the ability to dive down to 16 metres without relying on a specialised case. Meanwhile, the two aforementioned screens and its camera lens feature Gorilla Glass protection, which can withstand drops from 1.5 metres. Under the hood of the device is the same 12 MP 1/1.7-inch CMOS sensor as the Action 2, along with a 155-degree ultra wide lens. This enables it to record 4K videos at 120 fps and 1080p at 240 fps, which shares an aspect ratio of 16:9. Similarly, the newer action camera also comes with slow motion modes, Hyperlapse, Horizon Steady, and RockSteady 3.0 electronic image stabilisation. Newly introduced on this model is the new HorizonBalancing mode that can correct the tilt up to 45-degrees, and there’s also the ability to have the camera record videos in vertical orientation which is useful for TikTok videos or Instagram Stories/Reels. On that note, the DJI Osmo Action 3 comes included with a new protective frame that has two attachment points at the bottom and on the side. The two points feature a quick release design, which enables users to easily switch between horizontal and vertical orientations while the camera is mounted on a tripod or a grip. According to DJI, the device’s removable battery is capable of lasting up to 160 minutes on a single charge. Additionally, the company says the Osmo Action 3 is the first of its kind to feature fast charging support, which is capable of topping up 80% of its battery capacity with just 18 minutes of charging via its built-in USB-C port. The all-new DJI Osmo Action 3 is now available in the US via the company’s official online store. The standard combo costs US$ 330 (~RM 1,496) while the Adventure combo, which comes with two extra batteries, a battery case and a 1.5 metre extension rod, is priced at US$ 440 (~RM 1,994). According to DJI Malaysia’s Facebook page, the device is currently listed as “coming soon” for the local market. (Source: DJI [1] [2])
