Through this new collaboration, Digi will be utilizing TM’s infrastructure once again in the form of Layer 3 HSBB Network Service. Before this, Digi has already collaborated with Time dotCom, Allo Technology, and Celcom Timur to help deliver its fibre offering.
Meanwhile, the financial value of this collaboration was not revealed by either company in their joint announcement today. However, the announcement did include a statement from Digi’s Chief Marketing Officer, Loh Keh Jiat which said that it will allow Digi’s fibre service to reach 3 million additional households all over Malaysia. This expansion will also include Sarawak as well as Sabah which is rather interesting since the state is one of Digi Home Fibre’s pilot market. All in all, it seems that Digi is quite serious in expanding the reach of its Home Fibre service although it is yet to be seen if this is the reason why the telco has significantly increased the pricing of its fibre offering recently.
