Design-wise, the Canon EOS R6 Mark II looks almost identical to the 2020 model, save for some changes for its interface layouts. Found on the left of the electronic viewfinder (EVF) is a new switch for toggling between stills and video mode, while the power switch is now situated on the right side of the camera beside the mode dial. Everything else remains the same, as with the original EOS R6. Similarly, the newer full-frame camera also comes with dust and drip resistance, as well as featuring a highly durable magnesium alloy chassis. In addition, Canon claims that its shutter mechanism is capable of enduring approximately 400,000 cycles, while its shutter curtain can be set to close upon powering the device off. In terms of size specifications, the EOS R6 Mark II is listed to measure at around 138.4 x 98.4 x 99.4 mm, and weighs in at about 670 g. As with most shooters from Canon, found in front is a mount that supports the brand’s EF lenses. Meanwhile, situated on the back is 0.5-inch OLED EVF with 3.69 million-dot resolution and 119.89 fps refresh rate, and a 3.0-inch vari-angle LCD touchscreen with 1.62 million-dot resolution output. It also comes with SD/SDHC/SDXC UHS-II card slots, a USB-C port, HDMI micro, as well as microphone and headphone jacks. In terms of wireless connectivity, the camera features support for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi, as well as Bluetooth Low Energy (LE). At the heart of the new EOS R6 Mark II is a newly-developed 24.2 MP full-frame CMOS sensor, which is accompanied by the brand’s DIGIC X image processor. It also offers a 5-axis in-body image stabilisation (IBIS) system, an effective ISO range of 100 to 102,400 (expandable up to 204,800). In addition, the camera has a shutter rate of 1/200 second for mechanical and 1/250 second for electronic, which entails for 12 fps and 40 fps continuous shooting respectively. For features, Canon’s latest shooter comes with improved autofocusing with deep learning capabilities for tracking eyes, animals and vehicles, a new High Dynamic Range (HDR) priority mode for capturing moving subjects, and a pre-recording RAW burst mode. In the video department, the EOS R6 Mark II is capable of recording internal 4K footage that is oversampled from 6K and shoots at up to 60 fps without crop for 40 minutes or longer. When set to 4K at 30 fps, Canon says the camera is capable of “unlimited” recording. Besides that, it can shoot to Canon Log 3, support internal recordings of up to 4:2:2 10-but in H.264 or H.265, and record 6K 60p RAW via external recorder. While an exact release date is yet to be decided, Canon Malaysia confirms that the EOS R6 Mark II will eventually be available for the local market in December. According to its official website, the new full-frame camera is set to retail for RM 11,999 for body only. (Source: Canon Malaysia press release / official website)
