This also means that it could feature a higher screen-to-body ratio, making it looking somewhat similar to the current generation iPad Air. It is not known whether the removal of the Home button on the mini 6 would entail a new side-mounted Touch ID power button for user verification or something completely different. Face ID or an under-display fingerprint scanner may sound like great alternatives to be featured on the new Apple tablet, but these are very unlikely.

However, Ross Young disputed the publication’s information and said the device will have a standard display instead. On the topic of credibility, it is also worth noting that Young’s tip regarding the new Apple tablet’s display size conflicts with the information supplied by Ming-Chi Kuo. In a report published by the renowned Apple analyst prior to this, it is said that the new iPad mini could come in at 8.5 to 9-inches.
Regardless, all information provided by all four sources (Young, Gurman, DigiTimes and Kuo) are unofficial and are considered as mere hearsays until Apple themselves could confirm the details. The company has yet to announce when it plans to unveil the new iPad mini or any upcoming products, but Gurman believes a launch could happen sometime in Fall this year.
